Wondering if store insoles are enough? Read our honest comparison of the four options people usually try.

Foot pain usually starts with how your feet move: a collapsing arch, uneven weight, a heel that rolls in. That movement travels up into your knees, hips and lower back. You can't correct a movement problem without first seeing it.
Gait scan
A pressure plate records how your weight travels through each foot as you walk, so we can see exactly where it's overloading.
Clinical exam
A licensed clinician checks your joints, alignment, symptoms and history to decide whether orthotics are the right answer at all.
Supervised foam cast
Your foot is held in the correct position while the cast is taken, so your orthotics are made to the right shape.
"Most of my patients spent hundreds of dollars on insoles before they came to me. Once you see their gait scan, it's obvious why none of them worked."

Many extended health plans include custom orthotics. Most people never use it.
Many Canadian workplace and private plans set aside money for custom orthotics each year, and many reset on January 1. If you don't use it, you lose it. We'll help you check your plan before your visit and give you the documents your insurer asks for.
Check if you're coveredCoverage depends on your plan. Some plans require a referral or prescription from a specific type of practitioner. We'll help you confirm before you commit.

Questions people ask
How is this different from the insoles I can buy at the store?
Store-bought insoles are made for an average foot. Custom orthotics are made from a cast of your feet, taken by a clinician after a gait scan and exam. That's why they can correct how your foot moves, and why many benefit plans treat them as a medical device.
Will my benefits cover it?
Many extended health plans include custom orthotics, but each plan has its own rules about amounts and who can prescribe them. We'll help you check before your visit and give you the receipts and assessment notes your insurer usually asks for.
What happens during the home visit?
The clinician asks about your symptoms, scans your walk on a portable pressure plate, examines your feet and legs, and, if orthotics are right for you, takes a foam cast. It takes about 45 minutes and needs a few metres of floor space.
What if orthotics aren't right for me?
Then we'll tell you. Not everyone needs orthotics, and if the assessment points to something else we'll explain your options and next steps.
Can I come to the clinic instead?
Yes. You can choose an in-home visit or come to our clinic at [Clinic address]. The assessment is the same either way: gait scan, exam and foam casting.
Which areas do you serve?
We currently visit homes in [City] and surrounding areas. Enter your postal code in the check above and we'll confirm.
How long until I get my orthotics?
Usually about [2 to 3] weeks after your cast. We fit them at a short follow-up visit to make sure they feel right.
